Maria brings over 15 years of sales and marketing experience from a broad range of positions held in Atlanta and New York, giving her a diverse view of the industry. She is also a passionate entrepreneur. She previously owned, Sweet Devil Moon Tapas Bar, a business that was self funded with savings and credit cards. Through this experience Maria personally understood the difficulty of access to capital for small business owners.
In 2011 she decided to follow her passion for helping the business community by joining Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs as Small Business Loan Officer. She worked on community outreach initiatives, coaching financial education programs, and one-on-one business consulting and lending. After 3 years as a successful micro-lender she became the Founding Director of the SBA ACE Women’s Business Center. In 2017, Maria was chosen to manage and develop the Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs Hispanic initiative as the Director of Hispanic Strategies and Lending.
She has dedicated the last 20 years of her life educating and supporting women and minority business owners through her different leadership roles at Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs “ACE”.
Her mission is to spread the knowledge and provide the tools to prevent predatory lending in minority communities.
She served as the past board chair-elect for the Latino Community Fund of Georgia (LCF Georgia), which is a grant-making public charity dedicated to supporting Georgia Latino-led and Latino-serving organizations with advocacy, capacity building, and direct investments.
In 2021, she was named by the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as one of The 50 Most Influential Latinos in Georgia.
In 2022 and 2023, she was named by Georgia Trend Magazine as one of The 500 Most Influential Leaders in Georgia.
In 2023, Maria was listed in the World’s Leaders Magazine under 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝'𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑.
